Hills + Hollows - Behind the Chinese Market

Arising from the rubble of a mediaeval quarry, Hills + Hollows present a xeroxed grimoire of clockwork psalms.
Recorded live in 2010, these psychedelic paeans to corner-shop paganism are tightly delivered, yet primal in nature.

Tales of myths and magic form one withered limb: a story of mutiny in Duat is told on 'Egyptian Witch', while 'Under the Western Sky' squints back into the mists of English folklore, fleshing out the legend of Ipikin, the rapist robber knight of Wenlock Edge.

The other stump deals with body worship, masochistic power plays, and the exaltation of five-sense reality, told through the eyes of 'Fuck Maniac'. In 'Threshold of Disaster' and 'Power Struggle', he lashes out, projecting his own shortcomings onto those around him, before eventually turning into a brittle, rabid, sex-obsessed caricature of those he most despises on his very own title track.

These polarities run thick throughout the Hills + Hollows.
